WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgrade rs NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will be less expensive, even when they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. They can use Flightstones that are a general upgrade currency available to all players, or crests, which are more specialized and consumed during upgrades at specific levels of the item. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or gear being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
